Obituary

A native of McComb, Miss. and resident of Baton Rouge, he passed away at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Baton Rouge General. He was 73, a retired Assistant Principal with the East Baton Rouge Parish School System and veteran of the United States Army. Visiting at Nazarene Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by service at 11 a.m. conducted by Dr. Albert Green. Interment in Louisiana National Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth G. Haynes; mother, Ester M. Banks; daughters, Tonjala R. Dupre, Ebony J. Mcafee and Brandi Haynes Metoyer; sisters, Wanda Mack Hooks, Gloria Faye Felder and Hazel Clark; brothers, Marcus W. Mack, John D. Haynes, Joe Clyde Haynes, Bernard Haynes and Harold Haynes; and 4 grandchildren. Preceded in death by his father, Bernard Haynes, Sr.; step-mother, Willie Bea Haynes; grandmother, Jessie Brumfield; and step-fathers, Clifton Mack and Oscar Banks. He earned BS and M.Ed. degrees from Southern University A&M. He was a Justice of the Peace and a member of the Jet Set Social Club, Kappa Alpha Psi, La. Retired Teachers Association and Educators of Yester Years.
