Obituary

" Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me ".    John 14:1

But you o man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience and gentleness.
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good
confession in the presence of many witnesses.       1 Timothy 6:11-12

Shirley "Bae Bae"  Garner Coleman LaCour was born November 29, 1944 and went to her home not made by man's hand on April 15, 2016.  She was born to Hattie Roach Garner and Oscar Garner, Sr.  She was reared in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and lived in New Orleans, Louisiana for a period of time.

Shirley "Bae Bae" accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. James Baptist Church.   In 2005, she joined the Star Hill Baptist Church of St. Francisville, Louisiana under the leadership of Pastor Murlon Webb.  She later moved her membership to Inter-denomination Love Outreach Ministry under the Pastoralship of Rev. Renella Owens where she remained until her death.

Shirley "Bae Bae" received her education in the East Baton Rouge Parish School system and she graduated from McKinley High School in the late 1960's.

Shirley "Bae Bae" was employed by Elayn Hunt Correctional Center for a short period of time.  She later worked at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center for several years before her health began to fail her.  Even then when she could she would take odd jobs because of her work ethic and her willingness to always work and help others.  Though she wasn't in perfect health, she took joy in caring for others.

Shirley "Bae Bae" Garner Coleman LaCour leaves to cherish her memories, a loving son, Michael  (Tangler) Coleman, Sr.; one sister, Jacqueline Garner; four brothers, Oscar Garner, Jr., Thomas  (Shirley) Garner, Sr., Rev. Dennis Ray (Dora) Garner and Rev. Gregory (Renella) Owens all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; two brothers-in-law Louie Judson of Zachary, Louisiana and Burnette (Annette) Keith, Jr. of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one granddaughter, LeKiedra Coleman (Kenya Cobbing) five grandsons, J'dai Lewis, Corey Tolliver (Johnette) Michael Coleman, Jr., Jamar Coleman of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and James Coleman (Anastasia) of Lafayette, Louisiana; three step grandsons, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
