Sis. Sarah Steward Minor
was born September 5, 1924 to the late Harrison Stewart, Sr. and Ella Posey Stewart.
Sarah
was a native of Woodville, Mississippi and made New Orleans, Louisiana her home for decades.
Sarah
moved to Zachary, Louisiana in 2005, and upon her illness in 2013 she relocated back to Woodville, Mississippi.
Sis. Sarah
was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 92 on March 11, 2017 at the home of her son in Woodville, Mississippi.
Sarah
accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was baptized at Saint Luke No. 2 Baptist Church in Woodville, Mississippi by the late Reverend Kenner James.
As a young girl,
Sis. Sarah
was educated in the Saint Luke No. 2 Baptist Church School and soon after began her journey in the world of work.
Sarah
worked many years as a housekeeper and at Woolworth on Canal Street in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Sarah
finally took an early retirement from Ross Center to care for her son, Shellie "Poochie" Minor.
Sis. Sarah's
personality was characterized by her generosity and love for her family and friends.
Sarah
was a very giving, fun-loving and outgoing person - the kind who never met a stranger. She found love twice in her lifetime. First, married to Bennie "Moody" Minor, Sr. and to this union four (4) sons were born, where unfortunately one died as a infant. Later, she was married to the late Henry Clay.
Sis. Sarah
leaves to cherish her precious memories; three (3) children, Bennie (Lela) Minor of Woodville, Mississippi; Alfred "Bruh" (Liz) Minor of New Orleans, Louisiana and Shelly "Poochie" Minor of Port Allen, Louisiana; tow (2) sisters; Francis Hawkins of New Orleans, Louisiana and Alllease Nix of Houston, Texas; ex-husband, Bennie "Moody" Minor, Sr. of Woodville, Mississippi; seven (7) grandchildren; Thomas Minor and Alfred "Poppa" Minor of Zachary, Louisiana; Adrienne "Drena" Minor of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Bennie Jr., Rodrick and Lelania Minor all of Woodville, Mississippi; and Alfred Minor, Jr. of New Orleans, Louisiana; six (6) great-grandchildren; Dominique Minor, Justin Minor, Alfred "Lil Poppa" Anderson, Kionn Gillard, Keishelle Irby, and Terrineisha Minor; twelve (12) great-great grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Sis. Sarah
is preceded in death by her parents; Harrison and Ella Stewart, Sr., one sister, Isadora Steward Duncan; two brothers, Daniel Stewart, Jr. and Harrison Stewart, Jr., her grandparents and infant child.
