Paul David Hillard, Sr. (David) was born to the union of the late Nelson and Elizabeth Wilson Hillard on 9/30/1930. He was a native of Weyanoke Louisiana, he attended school at Greenwood and Plattenburg in West Feliciana Parish; he also attended St. John Magnolia, McKinley High School and completed Business Management courses at Southern University. David married the former Sallie Mae Haney on April 9, 1950; to this union two sons were born. Attended Camphor United Methodist Church, he has served on the Board of Trustees (past Vice-Chairman) and was a member of the Methodist Men's Choir and the Combined Choir. David owned and operated Hillard's Plumbing Company, He was the first African American in East Baton Rouge Parish to be certified by the city of Baton Rouge and the state of Louisiana as a Master Plumber. He was a member of the Baker Plumbing and Heating, A.C. Board and a member of the Board of Directors of the O'Brien House. He worked with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge for many years as well. He departed this life on May 14, 2013. He is preceded in death by His Parents: Nelson and Elizabeth Wilson Hillard; Beloved Wife, Sallie Hillard; Siblings: Susie Ruth, Lucy Foster, Emile Hillard and Ernest Hillard. He leaves to cherish his memories: two sons: Rev. Dr. Paul David (Carolyn) Hillard, Jr. Huntsville, Alabama and Kevin T. Hillard, Baton Rouge, LA; three grandchildren: Tania Hillard, Huntsville, Alabama; Paul David (Linda) Hillard, III, Santa Clara, CA and Renata (Courtney) Henderson, Ankeny, Iowa; two great-grandchildren: Chase and Rori Henderson, Ankeny, Iowa; one brother Rev. Clarence (Maude) Hillard, Baton Rouge, LA and one sister, Mary Hillard Raby, Saint Francisville, LA; sister-in-laws: Beatrice Hillard, Baton Rouge, LA; Barbara Love, New Orleans, LA; Patricia Phillips, Baton Rouge, LA and Florene Lea (Isaac), Missouri City, TX; brother-in-laws: Roger Phillips, Dalton, GA and Bruce (June) Haney, Baton Rouge, LA and a host of other relatives and friends. His celebration of life will be Saturday, May 18th at 11:00 from the Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Clifton C. Conrad, Sr. Officiating. Visitation will be 9:00-10:45.
