A Time To Be Born: Julia Bradford Moore was born on October 30, 1925, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to the late Hartzel and Beatrice Hayes Bradford. The second of their children, she was raised in a home rooted in faith, discipline, and service. Her spiritual foundation began at Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was baptized on February 14, 1926, by the late Reverend Robert Wilkins and confirmed in 1936 by the late Reverend Leroy Fields.

Julia pursued education with excellence, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1947 and a Master of Education degree in 1975 from Southern University, along with additional graduate study, including the National Science Foundation Summer Institute for teachers. Her life became a testimony of faith, perseverance, and purpose.

A Time To Live: Julia lived a life defined by service, resilience, and a deep commitment to others. She devoted nearly sixty years to education, shaping young minds in St. Helena Parish, East Baton Rouge Parish, and East Feliciana Parish. Her career included Helena High School, Capitol High School, North Baton Rouge Comprehensive Center, Jackson Middle School, and the Baton Rouge Recreation Commission. In 1996, she was honored as Teacher of the Year at Jackson Middle School.

Her journey took on new purpose after her breast cancer diagnosis in 1995. Facing the challenge with faith, she transformed her experience into advocacy. In 1996, she co‑founded Sisters Supporting Sisters in Baton Rouge, offering support and education to survivors. In 2004, she established the Louisiana Coalition of African American Breast Cancer Survivors, creating a statewide movement that provided awareness, community, and annual conferences for women of color.

Julia extended her mission through "Make a Difference Boxes," "Pink Security Blankets," motivational presentations, and personal support for countless individuals navigating diagnosis and recovery. She lived her belief that "this world is run by busy people making a difference."

A faithful member of Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church, she served as Church Historian. She was also a proud member of the Baton Rouge Sigma Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the National Breast Cancer Coalition, Sisters Supporting Sisters, the Louisiana Coalition of African American Breast Cancer Survivors, and October Divas.

Julia was the devoted mother of two children, Corwyn Bruce Moore, Sr. and Eunice Valleria Moore‑Lavigne, whose lives were shaped by her love and wisdom. Her achievements earned numerous honors, including for basketball as the first women's team ever inducted into the Southern University Sports Hall of Fame, the Lifetime Television Achievement Award, the Silver Magnolia Award, the MLK Humanitarian Award, and the National Breast Cancer Coalition's Women Who Get It Right Award.

A Time To Rest: On Saturday, April 25, 2026, at home and surrounded by family and the community, Julia Bradford Moore entered eternal rest after a long and impactful life. She believed, endured, and gave—continuously answering God's call to help others. Her life declared: "Help others…keep helping others."

She was preceded in death by her brother James R. Bradford (Evelyn). She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Corwyn Bruce Moore, Sr. (Evelyn) and E. Valleria Lavigne; grandson, Corey Moore; great‑granddaughter, Corianna Prioleau; niece, Barbara Brown (Isadore); nephews, Jimmy Bradford and Willie Brown; godchildren, Renee Alcorn and Tammie B. DeLoach; and a host of extended family, cousins, former students, and breast cancer warriors forever touched by her strength and compassion.
