A Time To Be Born
Charles Verner Davis, Sr., was born to the late Rev. Rudolph Davis and Bertha Payton Davis in St. Francisville, Louisiana on June 28, 1941.
A Time To Plant
Charles Verner Davis, Sr ., was baptized at an early age by his father, Rev. Rudolph Davis, at St. Paul Baptist Church No. 1 then located in Weyanoke, Louisiana.
A Time To Build
Charles , affectionately known as "Sunny Boy", attended Dawson High School. He worked in Baton Rouge and later moved to Houston, Texas for better opportunities. This proved to be a strategic move. He retired from Boeing Corporation with over 30 years of service. A quiet man of few words, Charles love zydeco music and watching television.
A Time To Love
Charles married his high school sweetheart, Ruby Whittaker. They established their life together in Houston, Texas. The joy of this union was the birth of their only child, Charles "Tiger" Davis. Tiger blessed him with the best gift of all . . . . . two (2) wonderful grandsons.
A Time To Die
Charles departed his earthly life on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas.
A Time To Mourn
Charles leaves to cherish his memories; his wife, Ruby W. Davis, son; Charles Davis, both of Houston, Texas, two (2) grandsons; Jaylen and Jordan Davis of Houston, Texas, three sisters; Roxie Davis of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Louvenia Dapremont of Inkster, MI and Margaret (Robert) George of Colorado Springs, CO, five sister-in-laws; Elsie and Georgia Davis, Bernice Cavalier all of St. Francisville, Louisiana, Donna Alexander of Zachary, Louisiana and Bobbie Cummings of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a best friend and cousin; Andrew Davis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; Rev. Rudolph (Bertha Payton) Davis, five sisters; Hattie Davis, Sally Gardner, Earnestine Thompson, Carrie Young and Alberta Payton, and four (4) brothers; Lionel, Edward, James and Reginald Davis.
